Organizing is about channeling our unique skills and talents towards our shared goal. This means using what we have to build alignment, power, and capacity so we can create lasting change for our communities. Whether you are scheming about how to use limited resources to complete high-impact work, how to build meaningful collaboration among partnering organizations, how to move through conflicting or competing priorities, or how to bring your supporters into more active engagement, organizing can get you there.
I am a huge organizing nerd who is humbled to have been trained by some incredible social movement leaders from across the globe. My experience has shaped my deep belief that organizing is great because everybody can do it. I work with groups to build their capacity to get and stay organized so we can take on whatever comes next.
Some of my recent efforts include:
Coaching staff at The New Pride Agenda through the development and execution of the Inaugural TWEF Convening, which brought together over 150 elected officials, advocates, and providers from across New York state to focus on advancing transgender wellness, equity, and collective care.
Supporting striking workers at Kickstarter to win a 4 day work week. I ran trainings and had 1:1 mentoring conversations with workplace leaders to help them develop strategic tactics over the course of a year-long campaign that escalated to a 42-day strike to win a fair union contract.
Stewarding RE|Organizing School to connect movement leaders from across the NYC ecosystem for shared learning and network weaving. This included contributing to our pedagogical approach, co-designing our programming, and supporting logistics for this multi-day organizing school.
Coordinating union members and labor allies to support Claire Valdez’s campaign for Congress. Through relationship mapping and strategic planning, I helped build a base of union members who regularly turn out to support the campaign.
Mentoring organizers who are building the largest volunteer canvassing efforts in NYC history.
I am most excited to support with:
Strategic campaign planning: I work with groups to develop campaign objectives and make realistic plans that leverage existing capacity to meet campaign objectives. This can include supporting groups with completing a power analysis, developing core messages for a campaign, and planning how to get your community base engaged through the campaign to scale your capacity long-term.
Facilitation: Whether you have a high impact team meeting that would benefit from an outside facilitator or are planning for a multi-day convening, I love to work with groups to ensure that time is used intentionally to reach defined outcomes.
Training and curriculum development: Let’s develop interactive, impactful curriculum together to help connect your community with knowledge and best practices. I work with groups to hone in on their approach to training so that pedagogy matches their end goals and we can meet learners where they are at.
Data analytics: As my mentor says “data wins campaigns.” I love to spend hours in a spreadsheet, understanding what the data tell us about strengths and opportunities. I’ll help you keep your databases up to date and understand what the data tell us about how to prioritize your efforts.
Mentoring: I love to support new leaders in developing their confidence and honing their expertise so they can be effective and impactful.
